I am studying the Filipino language because my girlfriend's pamilya speak Tagalog (they are from Luzon) and I want to be able to connect with their culture and take some pressure off of my gf (who helps translate). If we get married and have a kid in the distant future, I also think learning Tagalog will help me and our child connect to their heritage. If multiple people speak Tagalog at home, it is more likely they will become fluent themselves.P.S. LearningTagalog.com lied, it said it was free but only lesson one is free, the remaining lessons cost $99! I would pay that to help learn the language if I had the money, but I don't. I'm thankful this free website exists!
