Halimbawa....Tagalogle #93

Today's solution...my starter word.

You can work backwards...just as easy as you can work forwards. A bit tooooo easy in my solution today.

Position 1 MUST move to Position 3...then how many possible words with 4 positions determined? Konting konti! Do you know?

Recently...I have averaged about 3.5 moves...
1. Get the most probable letters on the board.
2. Use a strategic word to determine a couple actual positions.
3-4. A couple determined letters in position, tend to DEFINE just a couple of fairly frequent Tagalog words. (These combos help me learn the most common sounds - which is why I play everyday)

Not bad for a foreigner ear with no super strong native instinct for sound combinations.

With two green positions in starter position, and the final solution, and the most strategic combination for a starter word, NOT TOO difficult to work backwards to the MOST LIKELY starter word.

Probably many better strategies. Please share. As part of a community...share in the community.

Or not...just enjoy.

ok ... I think I got it now .... you know the solution of the game ... and so you can use the posted solution of somebody else to try to work your way back to the most probable starter word of that user ...

Hmm ... to be honest ... that may be fun ... but I dont see any other reason why I should be interested in the starter word of somebody else ... there are much better ways to approach these kind of word games ...

did I get the spirit of the discussion correctly now ?

@Jimmy329 but I dont see any other reason why I should be interested in the starter word of somebody else

Different strategies in word choice....TEACH ME a ton about TAGALOG...to
- Learn new words
- Learn letter combinations
- Learn acceptable Tagalog sound combinations
- Learn most frequent letters in Tagalog Words
THE ONLY reason I PLAY the game...as a different way to push my Tagalog knowledge.

I never played the ENGLISH version of this game.

So for me, AFTER I play the game forward, I look at others solutions to see if I CAN LEARN MORE from TODAYS GAME -- FROM OTHER SMARTER PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY.

AND I play backwards.

AND because I tend to play first if I am still awake...I have no games from today. So I look backwards to prior day...and play backwards. For any insights...until I sleep.

NOW IFFFFFFFFFFF....there was a prior play...would I notice...would it effect my play?
IFFFFFFFFF I could remember the prior day....probably would nudge my play.

POACH? Its a game. Saya2 na lang. Have fun na po.

Salamat sa great conversation.

Even if we are "unlucky" with the starter words ... the indicated misses reduce the number of available choices considerably. I think the choice of a starter word is not so important after all (but of course it should comply with a few rules) ... its much more important to draw the right conclusions from the intermediate results. (That much about "poaching" ...)

@Jimmy329 For me, the second word is most important to place any potential your starter word reveals. BUTTTTTTTT...without POTENTIAL...stillllllllllll your GUESS.

@Jimmy329 So working backwards...you place second position...you don't use the second position in your second word...but you can jump to G final position in your 3rd word? Many linking -ng/-g but not a ton of pure g in 5th position to my foreigner mind.

Kawili wili! Paano?

A more sophisticated approach to solve Tagalogle:

First of all we are talking about FIVE letter words. Theoretically there are about 7.9 million different combinations for 5 letters out of an alphabet of 25 letters. But most of them are obviously nonsense: CXYPT, AABCC ...

I have a made up a list of currently 263 valid five letter words ... I dont think it is complete yet ... but most probably it is almost complete.

Most of the five letter words contain TWO vowels (e.g. BUSOG, SAMPU) ... about 10 % of the words contain even THREE vowels (MAUNA, ASAWA) ... The most common vowel is A (17 %) ... followed by I (10 %) ... and most of the words with two vowels contain the combination AI, which comes as no surprise ...

The most common consonant is T (8 %) followed by N (6 %)

So it seems to be a good idea to start with a word like BAKIT or NAMIN ... of course we should change this first word on a random basis. Next we might look for a word, that does not contains ANY of these letters (e.g. PUSOD, PWEDE). But this can be optimized, if the result of the starting word is quite specific! But I will not go into details about how to optimize that second word ...

Such an approach will usually limit the number of candidates to just a couple of words ... in the best case just ONE solution will be left !

Thats all ... the technique may be improved a lot by more intrinsic approaches ... no search logic has been applied so far ... but even that simple technique should usually yield a solution within three to four steps.

I will give it a try every other day ... but rest assured, that I will not spend much time on solving such a word game ... I have better things to do ... I am just interested in methods, how to gain a fast result with reasonable efforts ...

Magandang araw sa lahat ...
