Aking binasa ang libro: Correct or Incorrect?
Hi,
Is the above sentence correct, please?
You don't need know to Cebuano to answer my question, of course, as I am just asking if this Tagalog sentence is correct or not.
But it may possibly interest those who know Cebuano that I am basing my sentence closely on this Cebuano sentence:
Akong gibasa ang libro. = Gibasa nako’ ang libro. ≈ I read the book.
Focus is on the book here, of course: some might translate it with a passive sentence, but that doesn't fit exactly either.
I am interested to know if the two languages have the same idiom. I have a vague idea that I have seen the Tagalog pronoun "kita" in the form "kitang" before the verb, which may parallel the above, perhaps?
Best Wishes
Simon

Although they are from the same language mega family, you should independently learn them.

This is especially true when Cebuano and Tagalog have a lot of false friends.

Like, never say "Nalibog ako" to a non-Cebuano speaker or you will be accused of sexual harrassment. Lol

I think it might be a valid construction, though it's not something one would say. I can give similar sentences like "Anong aking dapat gawin?" or "Pasensya na sa aking ginawa kanina." I'm not 100% certain if these are the same though.
