Hello Michael McGrady!
Glad to see you want to learn Tagalog yourself, and stumbled onto this website.
This website is rather a collection of tools one can use to learn Tagalog. So let me instead give a rundown over some of the more important features features on this site. This website has more to offer than the things I'll point out, but I just want to point out some of the features I think could potentially be useful to you:
If you're a beginner and don't know where to start, you can use the menu to find Tagalog.com's beginner-friendly lessons under the "Lessons" tab (link:
www.tagalog.com/less ons/). There, you can find a few resources that will help you start to learn the language.
If you want to know what a Tagalog word means or want to know how to say a particular word in Tagalog, using Tagalog.com's dictionary via the "Dictionary" menu tab will help you out (link:
www.tagalog.com/dict ionary/). It is a friendly Tagalog to English dictionary that has recordings for the most common words and pronunciation markers so you know how the word is pronounced. Simply type in a word (English or Tagalog), and you should find your answer.
When you get past the basics, if you want to listen or read some Tagalog content, you can use our "Reader" tool found in the menu tabs (link:
www.tagalog.com/read er-assist/), or the Listening Practice Videos (Tools -> Listening Practice Videos) (link:
www.tagalog.com/list ening-practice/). There's almost 100 hours of video content for the listening practice videos, and what I estimate to be around 50,000-100,000 words of content already in the Reader tool you can use (although most of it is quite advanced). Additionally, you can import your own content into these tools if you so wish.
If you need more resources, you can go to the Tagalog Resources Master List via the menu tabs (Tools -> Tagalog Resources Master List), and you will find more resources there that could be of use (link:
www.tagalog.com/reso urces/).
And lastly, there's the forums which you've just used yourself. Come here if you've got any questions regarding Tagalog, or just want to talk about anything Tagalog related! We don't always respond instantly as the Tagalog learning community is a small one, but we are friendly and there are a number of people that scour the site in their own time and might be able to contribute to the discussion.
Have fun learning!
