Harsh / Annoying Flashcard Sounds

Hi Everyone...
I'm new here so I feel a little awkward complaining so early, but I really feel strongly about this...

I enjoy the flashcard feature very much. Thank you so much for making it available. However I think the noises are EXTREMELY ANNOYING and are slowing down my learning. Do we really need to hear a SWISH sound every time the card is turned? The harsh BEEP sound when you mark your response as wrong is really grating on the nerves. Sometimes I make an answer a "correct" just to avoid hearing the annoying BEEP. This is not helping my learning.

Also, the volume is a problem. The noises are set at a volume that is actually HIGHER than the volume of the pronunciation of the Tagalog words. If I turn down the volume on my computer to decrease the harshness of the BEEPS and SWISHES, I can't hear the pronunciation of the Tagalog word.

As much as I like the flashcard feature, I'm considering abandoning it to use my own (silent) flashcard system, but then I would miss out on the pronunciation feature which I think is very important.

If you agree with me, please give this comment a thumbs up just so that it might possibly get the attention of the creators of this website.

Thank you,
Felix

Hi @FelixFelix !
I will look into lowering the sound effect volumes when I get back to my computer. I’ve never had a problem with it (the sound effects and audio sound roughly the same volume on my end), but different people have different setups and I can see how that could be annoying.

@FelixFelix Try now, should be a little less loud/harsh. Also, you can export Tagalog.com cards to Anki if you’d like an alternative way to do your card studies, too.

I just turn the volume off using the little icon at the top. Although this does mean that I don't hear the word spoken out.

I like the sound effects, particularly when I'm going thru a flashcard set in audio mode on my phone or ipad, because it allows me to go thru the set looking less at the screen. Yeah, I guess the sound effects could be quieter without inconveniencing me, but they haven't bothered me either.

Hi everyone!
I second what @FelixFelix said about the 'sound effects' of flash cards. I absolutely love the flash cards feature, but due to the sound effects I avoid using it... Just to be a bit constructive here, maybe there could be an option (like a tick-box) that disables the sound effects, but still allows the card audio to play? Thank you in advance!!!

You can export the cards in to Anki (INCLUDING THE AUDIO) and use it there. It's also a lot more usable and has better SRS. But I don't see an issue with the way they are now.
