Hi– just looking to practice a little more and have easy tagalog conversations with people so I can become familiar with basic phrases and words! I'm based in NY.

@gabmozo

Thanks for stopping by at Tagalog.com!

If you haven't already, you can check out the "Lessons" feature at Tagalog.com (link: www.tagalog.com/less ons/ ) which could be useful depending on how far you are in the language. Some of the members have used these lessons and found them useful.

There are people occasionally on this forum who do create groups and have conversations, and maybe they'll be interested in chatting with you. Hopefully they get in contact with you and let you know.

And if you haven't already seen the quick rundown of this site, here's a short intro of what this site has to offer, beyond the more beginner stuff (link: www.tagalog.com/intr o/ ).

Have fun learning!

Maligayang pagdating?
Do you know that in English.

@tagalogako it means happy arrival. normally happy is masaya. Maligaya is used more as merry like in merry Christmas (maligayang pasko). dating means to arrive and the pag- prefix makes it a noun. the ng at the end maligaya just links the too words.

without it maligayang pagdating would be separate it would be like yelling
"Happy! ......... Arrival!" as two seperate sentances. The ng linker makes it "Happy Arrival!" the happy adjective is describing the arrival

probably a little more in depth of a break down than you were hoping for but there ya go

"Maligayang Pagdating" is hardly used even in formal conversations. The only time I see it is when there's an attempt to translate "Welcome"
