I've come across it before as someone's family name. It could also be the name of a place. As a regular word, I don't think it is Tagalog. It sounds more like Ilocano to me.

@Juantutri I also think it may not be Tagalog, the sentence it came off is "Ngayong bumanag na sa langit" so my best guess is it means to shine.

Aha! OK, given that sentence, the word might be "bumanaag". It's a word that is usually associated with the light from the sun, as when the rays of the sun emerge through the clouds or from the horizon at daybreak.

I think that makes more sense. I should of given the whole sentence first but "Ngayong bumanag na sa langit na ating sinisilangan ang liwayway ng Kalayaan". So i'd interpret that literally as "our path to the dawn of freedown is now shining/emerging in the sky". Although it's quite a flowery sentence.
