Question: WHAT IS AMBITIOUSNES

To my foreigner ear, I only hear it thrown as a tease/joke...in taglishGrabe, ambichut ka daw.Wow too much, they say your so ambitious.

@Bituingmaykinang I first heard pangarap as dream. But a number of natives urged me closer to pipe dream / false hope...parang pa asa "false hope". They urged me to panaginip as a true aspirational dream.Is that true...is that fact...no idea...I just HEARD THEIR truth.To my foreigner ear, when I hear mang/nang/pang words...they hit my ear as "instinctual"...a comment on character...and most often negative connotations. Study mang/nang words and see what pattern emerges.Pangako kita. Weeeeh. Natives say pramis na pramis for a reason. Anong nangyari. Just "what happened" right? Meeeeh. Depende...could mean "ano ba yan...anong tsismis".Grab the Verb Handbook...and work your way through all the mang verbs.What is your list of words that natives go with English words muna? The one phrase I hear most often from my local agents, "Mas mabuti sa English yan"So what does MA- add to pangarap? I have no idea. I don't see it in the dictionary here with as many affixes as you probably find anywhere.Bituingmaykinang I am certainly interested in learning any real context you can layer onto that form.Of course many native teachers here to clarify. Pangarap is dream as in I dream to be a superstar.If you mean dream as in I had a good dream last night, that's panaginip.Mapangarap means "someone who has dreams". Ma- here follows the "adjective" ma- as in maganda, mapangit, mabaho, mabango...

@AMBoy Great content.To me or for me...they don't actually use pangako.My sample size is small...5 (Jesmark, Ryan, Rean, James, Rica)...I used pangako to them...or tried to get them to commit to pangako....And they urged me off pangako...I am just sharing my experience with natives and their reaction. I won't be here for another 5 pages...that's not my purpose in enjoying the people of the Philippines.I did say Great Content, nakalimutin.

Mapangarap is not negative.Ambisyoso/ambisyosa is. These terms have an "usurper" context. For example, Bong Bong Marcos is ambisyoso maging presidente
