Are ppl seriously getting offended cos she stopped accepting members??? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO grow up pls. This ain't an exclusive billionaires club. This is just a study group for Tagalog noobs and a couple of natives.

Xandra, do whatever you need to achieve your language goals. Nothing wrong with a small study group. Don't let anyone discourage you.

Hi, keeping it small was a discussion that myself and a few other members kinda had when we created a study/homework group.

Bigger groups could of meant more politics?

Bigger groups would mean that people could just be silent and not actively join in.

(#1 reason I don't want to be in a large study group) Bigger groups also mean that I would have to read through or skip the 2000+ messages that I haven't seen over a period of a few days, instead of only a few.

By all means, it's not to offend anyone or single anyone out. It's just for simple homework things with a few peeps. Our first homework is for a simple introduction in Tagalog and to get a little feedback, tips and help.

@primesgenato It's all good. There were probably some misunderstandings on both sides. It happens sometimes. What matters is how we can all find a common ground and harmony! Thanks though! 😊

@XandraV Hi... is it too late to join your beginner/practice group? I've been in QC x a number of years but working and studying all in English. My priority is also as a Fil-Am, to become fluent in Tagalog but I am not practicing enough. How do we go forward? Maraming salamat, Jennie

@Jeni

Since sir stevesmi was unable to join us due to his unforeseen issues, you’re most welcome to participate. Almost everyone in the study group is Fil-Am/half pinoy/pinoy just trying to reclaim their mother language, so you’ll feel right at home. Xandra will contact you 😎

@XandraV

I'd just strongly recommend any groups that get together have a native speaker help guide you through things. The last thing you want is to be mutually cementing bad grammar and language patterns into each others' brains, right?

I think encouraging each other is great and helpful, but beginners creating content (listening to each others' recordings, writing stories, etc.) could really go wrong if there's not some oversight be an experienced language speaker, don't you think?

@jkos I do agree, that's why we have Hamilee and Ian Sefan to double check and supervise the eventual mess we would do. In fact ideally, I wish every member of our tiny group get one private tutor/ native speaker as well to help them progress on their own. The group is at its beginning and opened to progress and development. Thanks a lot for your good suggestion, I will surely take note of it.
