Google translate will be the best but don't rely on it for accurate translations. Get a good dictionary and grammar book instead

@harry89

@Bituingmaykinang is right, if you want to translate whole phrases, Google Translate is by far the best. BUT it definitely gets things wrong from time to time.

Grammatically, Google Translate can be good. However, since it is a machine/program, it will fail to pick up on the nuances/non-literal meaning.

For example, "holy sh*t" is translated as "banal na tae". Grammatically correct, but very literal translation.

Learning Filipino/Tagalog would be your best bet, but it seems like you need some major work with your English. Most Tagalog learning materials are in English. What is your native language?

@harry89 There is no best, its hard work and the materials are not so great. For a quick an easy start I would start with www.learningtagalog.com that will get you started. Once you master this, then you can step up in to something else.

Get a grammar book. Beginning Tagalog by Joi Barrios have been highly recommended.

@Bituingmaykinang The only thing about that book, I'm pretty sure it doesn't include accent marks, which I think can really steer a student wrong...better to learn the stress location of words from the beginning so you don't have to re-learn them all later...

@jkos good point. I actually borrowed an e-book copy from our library and didn't even notice the lack of accent marks.
