Question: Bugtong vs Tangi?

I'm aware bugtong can mean riddle, however looking at the definitions of both of these words they can both mean "the only one". Could someone explain please?

Bugtong as an adjective it is a synonym of “tangi” and as a noun it means riddle(palaisipan).

@Kersheys some words in tagalog may have 2 meanings. "Bugtong" is one. Contemporary use normally means riddle. In Old tagalog also means "sole" or "only one". Rarely used nowadays.
