Tagalog Lessons / Filipino Language Pronunciation & Spelling includes some combinations with 'y'.

@Mr2022

Did you see that from a text message?

The proper spelling of the word is "pasensiya" (patience/indulgence/tolerance) - pa-sen-si-ya.

It's one way to say "sorry" in Filipino. The complete form of the word is the verb "pagpasensiyahan" (to treat with tolerance), but it is only used in that form when we're using it as a verb in a sentence. When saying sorry, it's only "pasensiya na". If the person you're saying it to is an older person make sure to add "po" at the end.

Unless you're addressing your good or close friend, never use " 'sensya na " as it will surely sound insincere and even rude to some.

Yes it was from a text message.

It was suggested two ways..pasensya na and sensya na, on another language platform.

Also, it looks like on this language platform/app has members 20+yrs younger than me. Maybe that’s the way the younger generation speaks now. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I appreciate for the clarification. You were very helpful.

It might be because they're so used to abbreviating words in texting that's why they tend to forget already the correct spelling of some words.

@Mr2022, just stumbled upon this now. I commend you for pointing out how "sensya" is pronounced "sensha" because that's how it's practically pronounced in everyday life. Came from Spanish "paciencia": www.spanishdict.com/ translate/patience.
