@stevesmi Interesting. I looked through all the example sentences for “muna” in the dictionary here and didn’t see a single instance of the reduplication. Interested to get a native speaker’s take. As a footnote: I always take Goggle translate with a fairly large grain of salt, especially since I saw it translate “bawal umihi dito” as “taboo pee here.” 😆

@stevesmi Oophf...I would not depend on Google Translate to give you accurate translations...it’s just a bot and gets things wrong frequently. It especially has difficulty with non-Latin based language (like Tagalog). Bad bot. ; )

@stevesmi I agree with everyone. Please do not use "Google Translate" when you do a formal translating, but you can use it as a general reference I guess. But please don't trust it all the time.

So I rarely look a Google Translate...many years already. Then last week...somehow I got pushed into the site...new look...pop in some trusty dusty standby lines...and poof...really solid results.Am I wrong...or GT has come a long way baby?I guess if GT was that good a few years ago...I would have never engaged my mind. Feeling a little frustrated.

@BoraMacNah,GT is great for domain specific things. Most of GT's Tagalog is going to be news paper Tagalog. If you feed it formal sentences, that is what it has been trained on. It would struggle with chat speech. DeepL is a mostly European language translator that can handle informal and text speak very well for a narrow range of languages.I wouldn't rely on google translate too much but generally, more formal and longer sentences tend to be fine.We even have GT here on the reader tool... so its #goodenough.

@stevesmi Google translate has been notorious in translating sentences on a per word basis. So, if I have to break it down, it would be like this:Let it = Hayaan mo munang (a common phrase to use when you mean "let it be")
Cool down first = lumamig muna. (the second muna was for the translation of first)There is probably a better way to structure the sentence, but this is something you'd hear Filipinos say. It is colloquially accepted.

@Diegocorry I agree with your assessment of google translate. My filipina wife is often finding incorrect or misleading translations in the app. Having said that, I have found it to be accurate about 85% of the time.

Either "Hayaan mong lumamig muna.", or "Hayaan mo munang lumamig." Those are the correct translations.

take note of the word "muna" .. take away letter 'm' from the word muna, then it will become 'una',' una' in english means first.. in number it means 1 (one)..

hayaan mong lumamig muna or hayaan mo munang lumamig.
