You don't need the cds anymore as they have moved to a cheaper monthly subscription service. I used them up until lesson seven about three years ago. The Tagalog is kinda stiff but it does wonders for impressing people. Hindi ako nakakaintindi ng tagalog is one of the first things you learn, and it is quite useful. The nakaka- affix also has the side affect of appearing advanced and is good for a wowzer.

Yes, many-a-times have natives assumed I know deep Tagalog simply by uttering nakakaintidi ako ng kaunting Tagalog. LOL. I don't know how I feel about Pimsleur they are so damn boring but I think they can work well for someone ultra beginner who hasn't already be poisoned by multiple sources.

Yes, Pimsleur is expensive, but very helpful imo.

@akosikoneho the price has come down a lot. ive used it for 30 lessons and its all streaming from online now (or you can download to your device). it gives a good foundation for basic conversation. it is not the know all end all but it is nice to utilize once in a while just to switch things up as you learn. for example i like being prompted to say things because i'm not very creative on my own. i do think it is worth whatever price they are charging for it now. i think 70-100USD.

If you're in the USA, some libraries have them. I have used them and continue to do so. I find them very helpful but people's learning preferences differ. I know they have a sample one for free. Try it and report back what you think. Good luck sayo.

@akosikoneho was messing around on amazon/audible.com and realized you can buy the pimsleur lessons there also. its about 20 bucks per 5 lessons but they have a lot of different lessons on there. Level 1 has 30 lessons and it appears they also have level 2 which has another 30 lessons. If you have been studying for a few years I would skip right to level 2. Or just listen to the samples prior to purchase and make sure it is not too advanced.

A friend of mine bought the mp3s, and then got the refund . Also an option if you feel they were not useful, u do have to pinky swear you will delete them after you return them.
