Question: From the listening clip... "Kayang-kaya iyan ng sasakyan natin" (Translation: Our car can absolutely handle that). I'm wondering why it is not "kayang-kaya iyan ANG sasakyan natin". Thank you all in advance

I am not a native speaker, but I believe a more literal translation might be: "That is absolutely capable of being handled by our car." Hence, "...ng sasakyan natin."

@Gideonlau

Would be interested for a native person's perspective, but this looks like the person who is the one who is able/capable is always in the NG format, similar to the Puwede, Kailangan, Gusto, etc., psuedo verbs.

A couple more examples found in the Corpus:

Kayang-kaya mo iyan!

Madaling sabihin pero naniniwala ako na kayang-kaya natin, fam!

Naniniwala akong kayang-kaya natin gumawa ng mga bagay na ini-import pa natin sa ibang bansa.

Pero kung may opportunity lang, kayang-kaya mo silang sabayan.

Kayang-kaya nga niyang kontrolin ang sariling isipan.

"Yes, sir, yes. Kayang-kaya ko."

Kayang-kaya ng Zoyla and friends iyan.

"I’m a huge fan of Andre, dahil kayang-kaya niyang gawin kahit anong ipagawa sa kanya, acting, hosting, magpatawa."

@jkos I see. so, `could the sentence be repositioned as "kayang-kaya ng sasakyan natin iyan". Means our car can absolutely handle "that" (which is iyan).

@jkos totally agree that quasi verbs like gusto, ayaw, kailangan, kaya etc. generally take NG subject.
@Gideonlau the pronoun ito, iyan at iyon may or may not be placed in the second position in the sentence unlike the personal pronouns; hence, it's correct to say kayang-kaya iyan ng ... or kayang-kaya ng ... iyan.
