Question: What would be the rationale for using the mag- form phrase among the following:

Padalhan mong mensahe ang mga kaibigan at kapamilya nang libre !

İpadala mo ang mensahe sa mga kaibigan at kapamilya nang libre !

Magpadala kang mensahe sa mga kaibigan at kapamilya nang libre !

Other remarks are very welcome !

Affixes can code a bunch of nuance depending on prior actions and context or prior conversation - but directionally:

Root: Dala = carry / bring

PAdala could be informal request to bring / deliver

but

PAdala - is also a noun affix bending the notion to parcel / remittance

considering the suffix addition...

PAdalHAN confirms the verb notion with an object focus to bring something

mo = non-topic your; ang mga = topic focus and plural markers for friends and family

IPAdala - is a verb affix to request/require with an object focus to deliver or send something

mo = non-topic ng pronoun; ang = topic focus for message ; sa mga = sa non topic location and plural markers...we don't need ang here...because we already marked the topic...best to have one topic per sentence. I strongly suggest you just thnk of ANG as a topic marker...nothing wrong with the THE gloss but here it disappears once the TOPIC is marked and sa acts as a non-topic marker. ANG topic marker NG non-topic marker MGA plural marker SA non-topic location marker. Why so many markers...watch a video of ALEX GONZAGA...Pinoys love fast talkers..markers organize in the speed...look at a sentence...commonly 25 words or more with little punctuation...markers organize for readability.

Potentially a stronger request then the first sentence...again depending on the coding of the context

MAGdala - actor focus verb affix where ka/you is the topic focus ...You deliver the message

sa acts as a non-topic marker as well....if we must a locative focus...pero AYOKO naman!

WHEWWWW! Probably more nuance that could be wrung out pero GRABE!

Out and about..I will just hear the dala to dig out the notion of carry/send/deliver...and if I was going to request...I would go with PADALA friendly...or PAKIDALA to super formalize for authority figure (police/guard/suck-up target). PAKI is going to get me a BHEEG look regardless. Better PADALA BHEEGG BOSSSS!

But then I elohhhhhhhhhh pohhhhhhhhh to everyone. Style koh!

Kita kits!

@pj1506

"Magpadala kang mensahe sa mga kaibigan at kapamilya nang libre !"

to "ka ng" or to "kang"....hmmm...never spent the time trying to dig out the rules

when in doubt...my rule....DAPAT ang ganda / BAWAL ang pangit...

Style koh!

kang...could be pronounced KANG...as in a name...chinese..korean ...ewan...
pero... PANGIT NGA!

So my intution is ka ng -- though honestly can I pronounce the difference....meeeh

IF REYN can supply one of her doctoral insights on -ng/ng...throw in nang...lub lub lub!
