Question: Is it "Simbahang Katoliko" or "Simbahang Katolika"? I've found both forms, and I'm not sure which one is correct and if there's a difference between them.

Simbahang katoliko is more common but it does not matter. Tagalog has no gender noun agreement like in Spanish. Simbahang Katolika is most likely used by Hispanistas.

For one, we also say Kusinang Pilipino to refer to Philippine cuisine, not Kusinang Pilipina.

@Bituingmaykinang Not to hijack the discussion but regarding your use of "Kusinang Pilipino" for Filipino cuisine I coincidentally just finished a lesson about "Lutong Pinoy". I think that "Pinoy" is informal, otherwise, what is the difference in usage and would anyone say "Lutong Filipino"?

@Rompeyelos Hi, I'm fluent in Spanish and actually was once a translator. Filipinos have pretty well corrupted Spanish in many ways. Though in Spanish the Catholic church is always mentioned in the fem. form of La Iglesia Catolica. (katolika in Tag.) I would think that the fem. form is the one that survived into Tagalog. I assume you also speak Spanish with a user name like Rompeyelos, (ice breaker).

@StephenC I had Spanish in school, so I speak it a bit, but I'm not a native speaker. I was just wondering about the form, because I stumbled upon a text where both forms were used, so you had one sentence where it said "Simbahang Katoliko" and then another sentence in the same text where it said "Simbahang Katolika" so obviously I was a bit confused about that.

@Rompeyelos Both are correct. Latter alludes to the original Spanish phrase "iglesia catolica". Both forms are also interchangeably used in the news media. Shortened to "Simbahan"
