We should teach children to be respectful.To be in filipino is definitely not used like in english or ser and estar are in spanish but they do have a word for it.

Maging is not the same as "to be" in Spanish or English. Ser/Estar are conjugated as well as "to be" (is, am, will) in English. Maging is hardly conjugated the same way (naging - became, nagiging - becoming, magiging - will become). It is even conjugated differently from other verbsMaging is more of "to BECOME" than ser/estar or to be.Ser - soy(I am), eres(You are), es(he/she/it is), somos(we are), son(they are)The Tagalog for these ones will be ako ay, ikaw ay, siya ay, kami/tayo ay, sila ay.To say that the Spanish estar/ser and English to be has a Tagalog "equivalent" will further confuse learners.

I googled the grammar up and in doing so found a-ma-zing info on Fiona de Vos, among other things that she is also a singer-songwriter. Is her singing very popular in the Philippines? She and her Belgian husband are some remarkable people...😱😱. Apparently they put together the best course for foreign Tagalog learners. If I had been in the position to do so, I would have purchased it.
I had no idea that a Far Asian verb could be so terribly complicated for my limited posibilities of comprehension and memorization.
I must admit I feel sad at the idea that I'll never be able to attain at least some grasp of the language. The only aspect I think is not completely out of reach is the pronunciation, but at this point I am not so sure of that either...

Hindi ako handa para sa katotohanang ang grammar ng Tagalog ay sobrang kumplikado. Mayroon akong isang komprehensibong grammar ng Indonesia at isang kurso na Intsik na nakabase sa Italyano. Wala silang kumplikado tulad ng Tagalog.

Bakit sinasabi ng mga Pilipino "nosebleed nosebleed" kung kailan mahirap ang paksang usap? Nakikinig ko "nosebleed" araw araw doon. Dumudugo ang ilong kasi pumutok kanina ang utak dahil pumapasok sobrang kaalaman sa ulo?

@NikNak so it actually comes from an old filipino movie. A family is sitting around with an american who is speaking English. They are all concentrating so hard to understand that they all have brain aneurysms and bleed out their ears and noses.
