@PinoyTaj Yes, exactly. Essentially, they claimed because "maganda" has a plural form in Tagalog, but "beautiful" doesn't in English, and "beautiful" is an adjective in English, "maganda" is not like an adjective. Then they said it is like a noun, because nouns have plurals in both languages... That is just silly.

For instance,
Tagalog Italian Norwegian English
maganda bella (female) vakker beautiful
magaganda belle (f. plural) vakre beautiful

By their logic, all latin-based languages would lose their adjectives :-D

Although I disagree with leinard many things, I agree with him that the distinction between verbs and nouns is weaker in Tagalog than in English. Verbs can be "nouned" and nouns can easily be "verbed" in Tagalog a lot more than English.

This is one reason why finding equivalents in other languages (esp from a different language family) won't help in the long run. It's like Filipinos insisting on "I taxied" and "I airplaned" because these are literally the English equivalents of "Nagtaxi" and "Nageroplano"

If the rootword "luto" is strictly a noun, then luto ng luto would be a "noun" too. But it's not, right? It basically translates to "keeps on cooking".

Bituingmaykinang Luto ng luto is not a word and Lutong luto means extra crispy...

Corrected ng to nang.

@PinoyTaj do you really know the difference between luto nang luto and lutong luto. The -ng in lutong luto is for "na" and not nang

If you do, you're simply trolling here.

@Bituingmaykinang Also If you read my comment you will understand why it’s a noun/adj and a verb when conjugated .

png= pangngalan= noun
pnr= pang-uri= adjective
pnd= pandiwa= verb

@emorjon2 i am so touched by the way you attempt to unlock the secrets to tagalog conjugations. No one in the world will teach you that because even tagalog themselves get confused if you confront them, because they didnt think about their language at all.
Millions of white people attempted to study tagalog and never came past the conjugation stage because theres no way to learn them. Fortunately , my friend devised a way to teach the white men after seeing them struggle so much despite studying Tagalog for years. Heres my friend's channel, i suggest you expose yourself in the conjugations, then after a few dozen verbs, your subconscious will unlock the secret of producing Tagalog verbs effortlessly---https://youtu.be/O0lD5JUgG20
