Should have sentences?

Lets say i wanted to say “you should have gone to the market yesterday”, is “dapat mong pumunta sa tiangge kahapon” acceptable? Or does something have to be added to dapat to mark out a statement about the theoretical past?

Dapat pumunta ka sana sa palengke/tiangge kahapon

I'm not a native, and I could be wrong but this doesn't seem right. I'm open to correction but to me I think I would go with:

Dapat kang pumunta sa palengke kahapon.

@AMBoy yeah. Having dapat and sana together in one sentence makes the sentence redundant

@Kersheys the error in this sentence is the use of mo. -um- is barely used with mo

@Bituingmaykinang yeah thats what was throwing me off, but also is it common or something to go dapat <verb> vs dapat pronoun (like we would with other psuedo verbs)? I notice both of you natives both did that.

@Kersheys they're different in the sense that dapat kang pumunta is an incomplete sentence while dapat pumunta ka is a complete sentence.

@AMBoy dapat + pronoun(-ng or na) + verb without additional info is incomplete while dapat + verb + pronoun is a complete sentence

Dapat kang pumunta...but where?

Dapat pumunta ka. Okay, noted. Next time I will go.

@Bituingmaykinang Sure thats good to know but you still used Dapat + verb even when you specified more information.

Dapat nagpunta/pumunta ka sa palengke kahapon

Any reason why ?

Is Dapat kang pumunta sa palengke kahapon not valid?

@AMBoy it's *still* not "very complete". The crux in this order is the na/-ng. More often than not, that sentence will be followed up with a "bakit". As opposed to "dapat pumunta ka", in which a lot of times, is enough to end the conversation.

The first sentence can be thought as "you should go..." While the second one "you should have gone"
