Subject vs Object focus

Will seeing where the word "ang" is placed help me determine whether the sentence is object focused or subject focused?

EXAMPLE:

Binigyan ni Maria ng tubig ANG bata = Maria gave water to the child.
( ang is before bata so that means bata/child (subject) is the focus of the sentence? )

Ibinigay ni Maria ANG tubig sa bata = Maria gave the water to the child.
( ang is before tubig/water so that means water (object) is the focus? )

I could be wrong but i need help hehe. Im finding it difficult getting used changing verbs based on the sentence focus. Im even finding it hard figuring out what the focus is in each sentence.

The affixes would be a better indicator which is the focus of the sentence - if it is the actor, the receiver, the direction, etc. Object and Actor are not the only foci in Tagalog. There's also benefactive, locative, etc.

Ang and ng are just markers.

"Subject" focus would really confuse you later as the subject of the sentence can be a person(named) and ang is not used for "named people" but "si" is used..and object focus does not literally mean "object" but more of the "receiver of the action". So an object can be a person.

The ang marker (as well as Si and Sina) is a good indicator of focus, as well as the affixes attached to the verb, as @Bituingmaykinang mentioned.

There’s a good summary here that may help:
