Born and raised in the Philippines and currently living in Japan, I've been teaching Tagalog for 3 years, English for 8 years, and learning Japanese for 5 years. I have worked with people from America, Europe, Australia, Korea, China, Japan, and so on. I specialize in teaching beginner to intermediate-level adult learners. Book a lesson if you're looking for a dedicated person to help you with your language journey.
Whether you're a total beginner who finds learning a whole new language intimidating, whether you're looking for a conversation partner who will help you brush up on your Tagalog skills, or a friend to teach you about Filipino life and culture, I'm here to help you out.
My Teaching Style
I teach conversational Tagalog. This means I don't make use of textbooks where Tagalog tends to be formal and outdated. Rather, I tailor lessons based on your goals, interests, and level.
We'll start with easy, commonly used sentences, phrases, and grammar concepts and gradually level up as you clearly understand and grasp the lessons more easily. Lots of practice will be given (and homework too, upon request) to ensure retention.
Let's talk about anything and everything! We will have role-plays and Q and A's. Situations will be created where you get to practice doing everyday things like starting a conversation with a stranger, asking for directions, riding the jeepney, and so on. We'll ask each other questions and share ideas regarding the topic and grammar concept of the day. Corrections, useful vocabulary, and more common expressions will be given throughout the lesson with chances to practice them later on.
Expect constant feedback on your improvements and things you can still work on. With 8 years of language teaching experience, and being a language learner myself, I will apply techniques to maximize your language learning, and of course, make it fun.
