Good morning, Ma'am Katrina.
00:02.0
Okay. Sir, first, how's your family so far?
00:04.0
Kamusta na po kayo after this news of the indictment of several members of the Taogama Faith Fraternity?
00:10.0
Actually, the family is doing good.
00:14.0
In spite of these struggles, the things that we have experienced, we are coping up with the situation, Ma'am Katrina.
00:26.0
Okay. Sir, may we know, paano po kayo nag-cope?
00:29.0
Because so far, as far as we're concerned, this is a very tragic incident na hindi dapat nangyari.
00:35.0
Yeah. Being the head of the family, I think the other members of the family, they got this strong encouragement kami.
00:53.0
Because yun lang po nila. And of course, he's only the above that gave us the strength so that we can overcome and surpass all of this that is happening in our country at the moment.
01:13.0
Sir, since this issue began, there has been a lot of talk tungkol sa pagkakaroon ng stiffer penalties sa mas malaki o mas matinding parusa
01:22.0
for those who violate the anti-hazing law.
01:25.0
01:31.0
Ano po ba yung stiffer penalties na dapat ilagay sa batas for you to finally feel that justice has been served and that this incident will not be repeated in the future?
01:41.0
Actually, I am really for anti-hazing and it is one of our call and stand that this hazing must be stopped.
01:55.0
Now, I believe stiffer penalties must be implemented not only on the fraternities but I believe also in the universities or schools that these fraternities that exist.
02:15.0
Maybe from those who will exercise this kind of hazing, they should be given stiffer penalties or maybe as what our legislators are standing at the moment with regards to the amendments.
02:39.0
Then I am for it. I go for it.
02:42.0
Let's first talk about the schools. Anong klaseng penalties po yung gusto niyong mabigay doon sa mga schools who will fail to actually police organizations who indulge in these hazing activities?
02:59.0
So kung halimbawa yung school involved and then hindi nila sinunod or observe the proper core of this anti-hazing law, sila din po mananagot kung meron po nagkaroon ng victim of hazing.
03:18.0
Meaning sir, you want them to pay fines? Gusto niyo po ba silang makulong? Gusto niyo po bang makansal yung ibang permits nila? What do you have in mind sir?
03:26.0
Yes. Aside from the fines that they will be paying, so yung mga school authorities should also be, let's say, kung pwede nga, makulong din sila dahil hindi nila inobserve yun at saka tinabayaan nila yung fraternity that exists in their university or school.
03:54.0
Sir, let's talk about naman yung mga fraternities and the members who actually conduct hazing as part of their initiation or welcome rites. Ano po yung sa tingin yung dapat na parusa na ibigay sa kanila o maidagdag sa batas para tuluyan na silang ma-discourage from doing this?
04:11.0
Kasi so far sir, under the current law, the fine is already at P3 million and the reclusion clause is also there.
04:35.0
Actually, I am not so much engaged in these fraternities. But kung magkakaroon tayo ng death penalty with regards to this hazing,
05:05.0
Okay sir, just to clarify, you're in favor of reviving the death penalty for those who will be found guilty of being involved in hazing activities.
05:42.0
As a parent, pinalagaan natin ang anak natin, bigyan ng magandang tinabukasan at sinusuportahan natin sa lahat ng bagay.
06:12.0
Hindi na nila gagawin yan pag alam nila ganito na yung steeper penalty that will be given if gumawa siya ng itong hazing.
06:25.0
Bakit po nahihirapan na i-discourage yung ilang mga kabataan from being involved in hazing activities even if they already know that this has been already declared illegal under the law?
06:41.0
Alam niyo po ma'am Katrina, the system is already there. Our legislators have done so much to implement this anti-hazing law.
07:11.0
But still then, some of them especially sa mga mababa ay gumagawa pa rin ng ganitong klaseng agreement.
07:21.0
Opo sir, yung culture of violence or yung thinking po among the youth or among some fraternity members na kailangan nilang mag-inflict the pain for them to foster brotherhood amongst their members, paano po kaya dapat ito makorrect sa tingin niyo?
07:38.0
Since ang sinasabi nila na that is a tradition in every fraternity, maybe magkakaroon naman siguro ng initiation rights but siguro dapat bawasan nilang maybe five or six or seven fathers.
08:01.0
That would be enough but not yung mag-we-welcome ka lang. For example, bibigyan mo ng 70 fathers, 70 blows. That's too much. It's an inhuman act para sa akin po.
08:16.0
So enough na po yung mga ganon just to welcome a brother or a sorority to be in your fraternity. Para sa akin, enough na yung between five or kahit na siguro sampo. That would be the maximum na but not more than that.
08:39.0
Sir, so far seven suspects, seven members of the Taugama Faith Fraternity have already been indicted. Pero kailan po masasabi ng pamilya niyo na justice has already been served for John Matthew?
08:53.0
Dito sa investigation case natin ang katina, I think it is already solved. Kasi andyan na yan. DOJ, itong pitong members of the Taugama Faith Fraternity, Adamson Chapter, has been already because of probable cause, has been formally charged of the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.
09:24.0
Sir, there are several other suspects who are still at large, hindi pa na-indict. Ano po yung panawagan nyo sa kanila? Should other members of the Taugama Faith Fraternity, let's say from other chapters or from the nationwide board or something, should they already step in? Should they already submit their brothers to authorities?
09:47.0
Dapat po as brothers nationwide and all the other chapters of the Taugama, dapat po tulungan nila yung brothers nila who are still at large, itong mga persons of interest. Huwag nila hintayin pa yung magkakaroon pa ng warrant of arrest.
10:06.0
So I believe aside from the parents, magsis-step in po itong mga brothers natin from the different chapters to encourage itong mga members who ang nadawid dito sa hazing to step out and face the formal charge against them.
10:28.0
And with that, we will end it on that note. Maraming salamat po for joining us this morning and patuloy po kaming nakikiramay sa inyong pamilya, Mr. Joffrey Salilig, the father of John Matthew Salilig. Salamat sir.
10:40.0
Maraming salamat ma'am Katrina and ANC. Good morning.
10:58.0
Good morning.
