06:11.0
Ladies and gentlemen,
06:13.0
the President of the
06:15.0
Republic of the Philippines,
06:17.0
His Excellency,
06:19.0
the President,
06:21.0
R. Marcos, Jr.
06:41.0
Thank you very much
06:43.0
to Secretary
06:45.0
Dan Hoffman
06:47.0
for his kind introduction.
06:49.0
Please, please, please.
06:51.0
His Excellency,
06:53.0
Ambassador Juan Sera,
06:55.0
Ambassador of the
06:57.0
People's Republic of China,
06:59.0
Members of the Cabinet
07:01.0
present here with us today,
07:03.0
the Honorable Members of the Senate,
07:05.0
and of course, the Association
07:07.0
of the Philippines-China Understanding
07:09.0
Award Ceremony.
07:11.0
It is my great pleasure
07:13.0
and honor to join you here
07:15.0
today for the Association
07:17.0
of the Philippines-China
07:19.0
Understanding Award Ceremony.
07:21.0
If only to demonstrate
07:23.0
how important this
07:25.0
ceremony is for us
07:27.0
and all that it symbolizes.
07:29.0
It is my great pleasure
07:31.0
and honor to join you here
07:33.0
today for the Association
07:35.0
of the Philippines-China
07:37.0
and all that it symbolizes.
07:39.0
Indeed, this evening
07:41.0
is significant for a variety of reasons.
07:43.0
It is a fitting day
07:45.0
for our celebration
07:47.0
of the 48th year of the formal
07:49.0
establishment of the relations between
07:51.0
the Philippines and China,
07:53.0
a significant event of our history
07:55.0
that directly informed the presidency
07:57.0
of my father.
07:59.0
Built on a long
08:01.0
and rich history of commercial
08:03.0
and cultural exchanges and
08:05.0
intermingling, this bilateral
08:07.0
relationship has been a boon
08:09.0
for our country's economic strength
08:11.0
over the past years.
08:13.0
The figures say it all.
08:15.0
Following centuries
08:17.0
of old traditions, ranking first
08:19.0
as our import source,
08:21.0
we were able to grow and
08:23.0
rejuvenate in the upward organization
08:25.0
which led, in many ways,
08:27.0
to the long shape of these awards.
08:29.0
We must simply
08:31.0
rightly recognize.
08:33.0
In doing so, she recognized
08:35.0
the great importance
08:37.0
of a mutual understanding
08:39.0
between the Philippines and China
08:41.0
in recognizing
08:43.0
the former president
08:45.0
for his strong courage and nurture
08:47.0
to love our history.
08:49.0
So, we will exert
08:51.0
our utmost efforts to strengthen
08:53.0
this relationship.
08:55.0
We will strive to make a more comprehensive
08:57.0
and more uniform belief
08:59.0
that our relationship
09:01.0
must not be defined
09:03.0
by our innate differences.
09:09.0
So, let us be bound
09:11.0
rather by our similarities
09:13.0
to our common purpose,
09:15.0
our shared goals.
09:17.0
As a guiding principle, we will
09:19.0
set a dialogue with an adequate approach
09:21.0
to our decision-making and
09:23.0
to do even more.
09:25.0
Our receiving awardees
09:27.0
shall have fresh complications
09:29.0
for the worthy causes we want to make.
09:31.0
But they will also serve
09:33.0
as examples for our countrymen
09:35.0
to emulate and to provide
09:37.0
a spark to generate
09:39.0
as we push towards
09:41.0
the next century of our diplomatic relationship.
09:43.0
And we will follow
09:45.0
on up to assist us
09:47.0
in this effort.
09:49.0
To end, let me say
09:51.0
that I am nothing
09:53.0
but bright confidence
09:55.0
with the future of the
09:57.0
Philippines and in general.
09:59.0
Let us continue to work
10:01.0
to usher in
10:03.0
an exciting chapter for our
10:05.0
respective nations.
