Definition for the Tagalog word talampakan:
talamp akan [noun] foot (measurement); sole of the foot; underside of the foot [adjective] frank; flattened Root: talampakan
"Talampakan" only applies to the "sole", or underside, of the foot (and not the "sole" of a shoe). Usually, it can have either a singular or plural meaning. The sole of a shoe, including the insole, is called "tapak
án", which translates to "something stepped on". "Talamp akan" is also the very Filipino word for a foot measurement (12 inches). For the "inch" though, we use the Spanish "pulgada". Sometimes you might hear it as "purgada".
