His widow challenged rival local politician Congressman Arnulfo Tevez Jr. to return from abroad

and face allegations linking him to the governor's murder.

Supporters of slain Negros Oriental Governor Roel DeGamo

cry for justice as he is brought to his final resting place.

DeGamo and eight others were killed by gunmen on March 4 in Pamplona Municipality.

From their home, DeGamo's remains were brought to the St. Vincent Parish Church for a requiem mass.

Many supporters of the governor went out to bid their final farewell.

The governor's widow, Pamplona Mayor Janice DeGamo, did not hide her dismay

over the request of Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnulfo Tevez Jr.

for a two-month extension of his leave of absence.

One of the suspects mentioned a certain Cong. Tevez as the alleged mastermind

but no charges have been filed against the lawmaker in connection with the deadly attack in the town of Pamplona.

The NBI has recommended to the DOJ the filing of anti-hazing law charges

against 20 officials and members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity.

Three of them aided the NBI in the investigation

and identified the fratmen who planned the initiation rites,

those who hit John Matthew Saliling with a paddle,

and the fratmen who brought his body from Paranaque to Cavite where he was buried.

Ferdie, one of the fratmen, sends his apologies to Saliling's family

and has agreed to be a witness in the case.

consulted various Cebu-based groups Thursday

about their thoughts on a hybrid constitutional convention

Senator Ronald de la Rosa.

Padilla argues only P46 million will be spent via CONAS

if it's held simultaneously

will need a budget of over P14 billion

destroyed a batch of confiscated illegal drugs

worth nearly 20 billion pesos.

The move follows a revelation

by the Anti-Narcotics Chief

that a portion of drugs seized during operations

is allegedly sought by their informants as a reward.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency

destroyed 3.7 tons of illegal drugs

worth almost 20 billion pesos on Thursday.

These include 500 kilos of illegal narcotics seized

from Chinese nationals in Candelaria, Zambales

last September 2021

and almost 1,000 kilos of drugs confiscated

from Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr.

last October 2022.

The drugs were destroyed through thermal decomposition

inside an integrated waste management facility

in Trece Martires, Cavite.

Thermal decomposition involves

breaking down chemical compounds

with tremendous heat.

With this, the PDEA hopes to erase the impression

that confiscated narcotics are being recycled.

touts progress in achieving his campaign promises

as he inaugurated projects in the bailiwick

of his former election rival Lenny Robledo.

During his first visit to the province of Camarines Sur

as the country's chief executive,

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

led the launching of the Cadiwa Market

in the town of Pili.

He took note of the cheaper prices of rice

and other agricultural products,

most of which came from the farmers

and agricultural cooperatives in the province.

We will also do things to bring the families

closer to education and medicine.

will help convince the International Criminal Court

Appeals Chamber to stop the ICC's drug war probe.

Solicitor General Minardo Guevara says

the appeal attacked what he called

legal errors committed by the ICC

pretrial chamber in its ruling

authorizing the resumption of the investigation.

The appeal pointed out

the ICC has no jurisdiction over the Philippines

and that the pretrial chamber

used the wrong standards

in admissibility assessment.

First of all, we emphasized

that the ICC has no jurisdiction

over the Philippines

when it authorized the commencement

of investigation.

When did that happen?

When the ICC authorized

the formal investigation

on the Philippine situation?

It was in September of 2021.

But you will note that the Philippines

withdrew from the ICC.

That withdrawal became effective

on March 17 of 2019.

Our second major argument here

that the pretrial chamber applied

in assessing

if the Philippine situation

is admissible

in the ICC

is not the correct standard.

by the pretrial chamber
