And in behalf of all the former members, I am also a living testimony, a testimony for the power of transformation, hope, and the fulfilling power of peace.

We lost the late Lieutenant Rolly Contoso in Davao, Oriental in 1992 in an encounter.

We also lost one of our classmates in Davao de Norte.

The late Edwin Loyola, who died in an encounter in Capano.

And the other one was the late Lieutenant Harry Mateo, who died in Santa Cruz, Davao during an encounter.

So, nilisong kayo ang sitwasyon.

And I could not imagine myself that someday, 32 years after, mahimong insurgency-free ang Davao de Oro and the rest of the provinces of Davao region.

Patuloy natin na basahin ang sitwasyon.

Kalayaan na bubuo ng pagkakaisa, katahimikan at bagong pag-asa.

Matapos man ang selebrasyon ngayong araw,

hindi naman matatapos ang pansalamat para sa nakamit na kalayaan

at magpapatuloy na pagkamit sa katahimikan para sa minimithing kaunaran.
