Our mission here in Marine Aviation Support Activity 23
00:30.8
was to conduct a bilateral air assault and littoral live fire exercise
00:35.8
in order to strengthen relationships between both the United States Marine Corps and the Philippine Marine Corps.
00:43.8
My platoon trained directly with the Special Operations Platoon of 49th Company,
00:47.8
MBLT-9 of 3rd Marine Brigade of the Filipino Marine Corps
00:51.8
conducting a bilateral air assault to Punta Baja in Palawan
00:55.8
which transitioned into a coastal defense live fire exercise
00:58.8
utilizing Marine Corps heavy machine guns and medium machine guns
01:02.8
as well as Filipino light armored reconnaissance vehicles,
01:05.8
heavy machine guns, medium machine guns, and small arms weapons.
01:08.8
In addition to the coastal defense live fire exercise,
01:11.8
we had some time after that to conduct a subject matter expert exchange
01:15.8
where my Marines, the United States Marines,
01:17.8
showed the Filipino Marines specifics of our M240 medium machine gun,
01:22.8
how we use our tripod and T&Es,
01:24.8
and how we set up a support by fire with our supporting assets.
01:27.8
What they taught us was some jungle survival techniques,
01:31.8
specifically how they set up traps to catch wildlife
01:35.8
in order to sustain themselves in a jungle environment.
01:41.8
The significance of getting trained side-by-side with the Filipino Marines
01:44.8
was that cross-pollination of tactics and procedures.
01:48.8
It allowed our Marines to see a different perspective
01:51.8
of how our partner nations conduct themselves,
01:54.8
how they train, and how they operate in austere environments.
02:00.8
In competition, and if it ever happens,
02:03.8
in competition, and if it ever comes to conflict,
02:06.8
there's always allies that you are going to be working with.
02:09.8
And the more reps that we have in being able to work without those allies
02:13.8
increases our interoperability
02:15.8
so that we can more efficiently execute operations.
02:22.8
I think we achieved this goal,
02:24.8
and the end result of this exercise was an increased cooperability
02:28.8
between Filipino Marines and United States Marines,
02:31.8
specifically with a coastal defense lens,
02:34.8
as well as increased relationships between all of our Marines,
02:37.8
knowing that we will be friends for generations to come
02:40.8
and we have their backs and they have our backs in any future operations.
03:02.8
All right, so when that first group,
03:04.8
either one of you come up and go to the ramp.
03:24.8
Good morning, sir.
03:26.8

04:55.8
You don't get up, you move all the way down.
04:58.8
