Siargao is one of the country's top destinations for a vacation. Known as the 'Surfing capital of the Philippines', the group of islands has attracted many visitors despite not being the easiest to travel around in. The DPWH wants to fix that with the construction of a bridge connecting Catangnan and Cabitoonan villages in General Luna. When completed, the bridge will measure 348 meters long and aims to significantly reduce travel time without going through the 18 kilometer Dapa-General Luna Road and Barangay roads of Sta. Cruz, Sta. Fe, and Libertad. With that, the DPWH says the bridge will be beneficial to locals, tourists and surfing enthusiasts going around the island looking for good surfing spots as waves change depending on season and weather condition. Total cost of building the bridge is at Php 337 million, according to the government agency.
