00:00.0
Ow! Here we go again, my dudes. Another small house design.
00:14.9
One of the challenges namin for this house was
00:18.1
we wanted to achieve this sort of understated elegance
00:22.0
na kahit hindi ganun kahay and yung materials na ginamit namin,
00:25.6
the house would still look very classy.
00:28.2
And maluwang ito even though yung interior floor area niya is just 78 square meters.
00:34.8
I know it seems pretty small pero magugulat kayo, my dudes.
00:37.5
Pag pinakita ko na yung loob nito, it feels much larger.
00:40.7
So dito sa labas, we decided to go with this minimalist zen aesthetic
00:44.8
combining complementary materials together tulad ng wood, concrete, white paint, and black steel.
00:53.2
We were trying to go for this contemporary na Japanese look
00:56.7
and I think we pretty much...
00:58.2
pretty much nailed it, my dudes.
00:59.5
So pag pupipili kami ng materials na ilalagay sa labas ng bahay,
01:03.3
one rule of thumb that I personally use
01:05.3
para hindi confusing or cluttered tignan yung exterior design ng bahay
01:08.5
is the 60-30-10 rule.
01:11.1
So kung titignan natin dito sa labas,
01:12.9
60% is the main color, in our case, white or anything close to white
01:17.8
like our concrete wall dito sa bandang entrance.
01:20.7
Then yung 30% naman ay ang ating secondary color or material
01:24.5
which is wood.
01:26.2
Then kung tama yung math ko,
01:28.2
yung 10% ay yung para sa ating accent color, in our case,
01:32.5
yun yung black na ginamit natin dito sa ating roof eaves,
01:35.8
sa window canopies, and dito sa ating mga awnings.
01:38.9
So itong 60-30-10 rule is a cinema color technique
01:42.2
na inadapt ko lang sa architecture.
01:44.4
To be honest, I think it worked out pretty well, my dudes.
01:47.5
With that being said,
01:48.3
hindi nyo naman kailangan sundan maigi yung 60-30-10 percentage to the dot.
01:53.2
Parang more of a loose guideline lang itong 60-30-10 rule.
01:56.7
Anyway, unang makikita natin,
01:58.2
dito sa ating bahay ay ang ating car park
02:01.1
with intentional gaps sa ating slab
02:03.6
na pwedeng patubuan ng grass or greenery.
02:07.2
Then, after that, we will be greeted by our main door
02:10.5
which usually yung swing ng mga main doors ay papasok
02:14.3
para papasok din yung swerte
02:15.8
which is a pamahiin na imimbento ko
02:18.1
para pag tinanong ako ng mga client
02:20.0
bakit papasok yung ginawa kong entrance.
02:23.4
Yun lang yung bibigay kong rason.
02:25.0
Easy.
02:26.1
Hindi, my dudes.
02:26.7
Ang totoong rason kung bakit
02:28.2
usually papasok yung ginagawa
02:30.0
pag exterior doors
02:31.5
or pag entrance sa ating bahay
02:33.3
ay pag may hawak ka na groceries
02:35.3
mas madali na magtulak ng pintuan
02:37.9
kesa hihilain mo yung pintuan palabas
02:40.2
tapos iiwasan mo po yung door
02:41.8
may hawak kang groceries
02:43.2
wala na, ginudge ka na nung kapitbahay mo
02:45.4
na may tagabukas ng pintuan
02:46.7
at tagadala nung grocery.
02:48.2
Anywho, isa pang rason ay
02:49.3
pag papasok yung swing ng pintuan
02:51.1
ay usually nasa loob ng bahay nyo
02:53.6
nakalocate yung mga hinges
02:55.1
and yung mga hinges meron kasi yung pin
02:57.1
na pag tinanggal nyo
02:58.2
pwede nang mabaklas yung buong pintuan
03:00.5
so just in case
03:01.7
palabas yung swing nung door nyo
03:03.1
at nasa labas yung hinges
03:04.1
pwede tanggalin nung magnanakaw yung mga pin na yun
03:06.4
makapasok siya sa bahay
03:08.1
at nakaawin yung mga groceries nyo
03:11.0
or worse
03:11.6
i-judge niya yung kalinisan nung bahay nyo
03:13.9
so you don't want that to happen
03:15.5
that is why
03:16.2
paloob yung swing nung pintuan
03:18.3
them or you know
03:20.0
Okay, pasok na tayo sa bahay
03:22.0
so upon entering
03:23.5
we will be greeted by an ante-room
03:26.1
so yung ginawa namin dito
03:28.2
yung ante-room namin
03:29.2
inspired by the Japanese Genkan
03:31.5
so dito nyo iiwan yung mga sapatos nyo
03:33.5
coats, payong, yung mga batang makukulit sa labas
03:36.5
yan yung sila iiwan
03:38.0
Okay, so pag tumingin lang tayo magmula dito sa ating ante-room
03:42.3
we have a beautiful skylight
03:43.7
providing tons of natural light
03:45.9
dito sa ating Genkan
03:47.8
making it feel mas maluwang
03:49.8
also, this sets the mood bago pumasok yung mga bisita sa bahay nyo
03:54.0
sort of a first impression na maliwanag
03:56.3
at maaliwalas yung bahay nyo
03:58.2
and syempre, dapat mabango
04:00.7
for that, we have
04:02.2
Madude candles
04:03.7
modern scents
04:05.2
for your modern home
04:06.7
links down below, my dudes
04:08.7
ooh, that just smells
04:11.7
so modern
04:16.2
Anyhoo, magmula sa ating ante-room
04:18.2
papasok na tayo sa ating sala
04:20.2
with this wonderful built-in seating arrangement
04:23.2
slash storage
04:24.2
na iniimbitahan kayong mag-relax
04:27.2
ngupo!
04:28.0
Umilata!
04:29.0
Okay lang, walang magja-judge sa inyo dito
04:31.0
So, ang titignan natin itong ating sala
04:33.0
we cladded the walls and the ceiling
04:35.0
with birch wood
04:36.0
para cozy yung pakiramdam dito
04:38.5
but still, maaliwalas
04:40.0
since yung birch wood ay light-colored na wood
04:43.0
and you know, just in case hindi kayo makahanap ng birch wood
04:46.0
pwede naman ordinary na wood
04:48.0
and then, biblitch nyo lang sya
04:49.5
hanggang ma-achieve yung desire nyo na lightness ng kanyang kulay
04:53.5
So, personally, I'm a big fan itong mga light-colored wood
04:56.0
especially pag kinombine sya
04:58.0
with this polished concrete floor
05:01.0
So, maganda sila tignan together
05:03.0
coz they are both natural-looking elements
05:09.0
Now, magmula sa ating sala
05:11.0
makikita na natin ang ating kitchen
05:13.0
which we decided na semi-single wall L kitchen layout sya
05:17.0
which is perfect for small dwellings
05:19.0
kasi maluwang sya tignan
05:20.0
so walang naka-obstruct ng mga countertops
05:23.0
although, one downside nito ay
05:25.0
pag marami kayong nagluluto
05:26.0
medyo mahirap kasi magkakabanggaan kayo
05:28.0
Anyway, as for the materials dito
05:30.0
we went with the 60-30-10 rule ulit
05:33.0
So, 60 ay white or light materials
05:35.0
like our quartz countertop
05:37.0
white base cabinet
05:38.0
white wall paint
05:39.0
and yung stainless steel na ref and accessories
05:42.0
Then, 30% naman ay ating birch wood cupboards
05:45.0
Then, lastly, 10% ay ang ating black cabinet pullers
05:49.0
and some certain black accents sa ating mga appliances
05:53.0
Pag tinignan natin sa taas ng ating cupboards ay
05:59.0
meron tayong clerestory windows
06:01.0
that provide natural light and ventilation dito sa ating kitchen area
06:08.0
Now, sa harap ng ating kitchen
06:10.0
dyan natin mahanapan ang ating dining area
06:12.0
na may katabing pocket sliding doors
06:14.0
which will then lead us to our backyard patio
06:18.0
So, by opening these pocket doors
06:20.0
magiging parte ng interior space
06:21.0
itong ating patio
06:23.0
and mas magiging maluwang yung feeling nitong bahay natin
06:27.0
from the inside
06:32.0
So, kung titignan natin itong ating patio ay naka-elevate sya
06:36.0
along with our house
06:37.0
which is naka-stilt
06:39.0
So, this is good both for anti-bahak
06:41.0
lalo na dito sa Philippines na madalas umuulan
06:45.0
Now, one of the common problems ng mga bahay dito sa Pilipinas
06:48.0
na lagi rin tinatanong sa akin ay
06:50.0
yung nagli-leak na mga roofs
06:52.0
So, sa bahay na ito ang ginawa na lang namin ay dos aguas sya
06:55.0
or gable yung roof
06:57.0
and inalis na rin namin yung gutter
06:59.0
So, essentially, yung mga posibleng panggalingan ng leak
07:02.0
ay yung dugtungan na lang sa ating roof ridge
07:05.0
and sa overlaps ng ating mga roofing sheets
07:10.0
Going back inside, sa tabi ng ating dining area
07:13.0
may kita natin mayroon tayong pocket door dyan
07:15.0
which when we open may kita na natin ang ating laundry cubby
07:18.0
which nilocate natin sa ating dining area
07:20.0
namin malapit dito sa ating backyard
07:22.0
and ating backyard patio
07:24.0
para yun o, very accessible
07:26.0
pagkatapos nyo maglaba, sampayin nyo lang agad dyan
07:28.0
Moving on, sa likod ng ating laundry cubby
07:31.0
may kita na natin ang ating toilet and bathroom
07:34.0
which, to be honest, my dudes, the dark floors
07:37.0
very very nice, bagay na bagay sya dito sa ating light walls
07:40.0
so it really complements each other well
07:44.0
Now, paglabas natin dyan sa CR
07:46.0
ang katapat niya na yung ating unang kwarto
07:48.0
So, dito sa kwarto na ito, meron na natin yung toilet and bathroom
07:49.0
meron tayong built-in bed slash desk combo
07:52.0
and sa taas dyan, merong shelves for storage
07:55.0
Then, opposite our bed, may kita natin na meron tayong open cabinet situation
08:00.0
which gives this room that sort of informal vibe
08:03.0
and nilocate namin yung cabinet rin na yan sa ilalim ng stairs
08:07.0
para hindi sayang yung space na yun
08:11.0
Now, speaking of the stairs, pag tinignan natin yung stairs
08:14.0
ginawa namin siyang color black
08:16.0
One, para hindi gaano kita yung mga skid marks na yun
08:17.0
One, para hindi gaano kita yung mga skid marks na yun
08:19.0
ng mga chine lepers
08:20.0
or yung tapak ng pinagchichinelas hindi makita
08:24.0
And then, pangalawa, visually, pag nakatayo tayo dito sa kitchen
08:27.0
it serves as a division between our living space
08:31.0
and this massive two-story wall
08:34.0
which, you know, spans magmula sa ating first floor
08:37.0
hanggang sa ating ceiling soffit sa second floor
08:40.0
Okay, akitin na natin itong ating stairs, my dudes
08:43.0
So, pagkarating natin sa ating topmost step
08:45.0
we will be greeted by these awning windows and
08:48.0
two difficult choices
08:50.0
Left or right?
08:52.0
So, right muna tayo, my dudes, kasi masama
08:55.0
nangangaliwa
08:57.0
Kaya ba nangangaliwa yung tawag pag iniwan ka?
09:00.0
because they left you?
09:03.0
Anyway, pag tumuloy na tayo sa ating right side
09:05.0
makikita natin itong workspace nitong ating small house
09:08.0
So, we designed this house para sa mga work from home peeps
09:11.0
Kinumbine namin yung comfort ng bahay and yung productivity ng office
09:16.0
So, yung unang area dito sa ating loft ay a sort of a family area
09:21.0
na may built-in seats slash storage ulit tayo dyan
09:24.0
kung saan pwede kayo magbasa ng libro, work on your laptop habang nagre-relax
09:29.0
Then, if we walk further, makikita na natin ang ating workspace proper
09:33.0
kung saan may desk tayo facing a window overlooking yung harapan ng ating bahay
09:39.0
So, we made sure na itong office area has lots of natural light and ventilation
09:44.0
So, the more well-lit and comfortable ang isang lugar, mas matagal ka makakapagtrabaho doon
09:52.0
Behind our desk, meron tayong storage slash worktop combos
09:56.0
Para kung couple yung titira dito, they can work together
10:00.0
And kung meron silang anak, pwede yung mga bata dito sa bandang family area
10:04.0
Diyan sila mag-online class or you know, diyan lang sila tumambay
10:07.0
So, the family works together is with each other
10:12.0
Labo!
10:13.0
Just aside my dudes, ito yung favorite na area ko dito sa ating small house
10:16.0
Kasi pag tinignan natin beyond these half walls, meron tayong open below
10:21.0
Looking over our dining area and our kitchen area
10:25.0
So, ito yung nagbibigay ng maluwang and maaliwalas na feeling sa bahay na ito
10:29.0
Not to mention, this promotes passive cooling para hindi ganun kagastos sa aircon dito sa umaga
10:35.0
Also, I really love the ceiling material na ginamit namin for this
10:39.0
Which is again, a light wood material
10:41.0
Goes really well with our white walls
10:43.0
And bagay na bagay siya dito sa ating twin gimbal downlights
10:53.0
Anyway, let us move on sa second floor bedroom natin
10:57.0
Which is directly across our loft work area
11:00.0
So, pagpasok natin dyan, may kita natin na meron tayong built-in double deck
11:04.0
To take advantage of the high ceiling dito sa kwarto na ito
11:07.0
And para ma-maximize na rin yung space
11:10.0
So, one thing I really like dito sa ating double deck situation ay ginawa naming closet or storage option
11:16.0
Itong ating stairs na pakit sa ating top bunk
11:19.0
So, again, space saving
11:21.0
So, all in all, yung Japanese vibe nitong bahay carried over magmula sa exterior design
11:26.0
All the way through sa interior spaces
11:28.0
And I think, isa yun sa important parts ng pagdidesign ng small houses or any house in general
11:34.0
Is pumili ka ng isang simple na style and stick with it inside and outside also
11:39.0
You can never go wrong with white and wood combinations
11:43.0
And throw a little splash of raw concrete
11:45.0
Anyway, with that being said, I hope may natutunan kayo today, my dudes
11:48.0
Hanggang sa susunod nating pagkikita
11:51.0
Have a flying peace!
