The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said it expects to finish a P1.6-billion project Urdaneta bypass road in Pangasinan by 2019. In a statement, DPWH said the 7.2-kilometer, four-lane road is set to open next year. “The Urdaneta By-Pass Road is seen to relieve traffic congestion in the city proper where most government and business centers are located,” it read. The bypass road in eastern Pangasinan will traverse eight barangays: Nancayasan, Sto. Domingo, Sta. Lucia, Nancamaliran East, Mabanogbog, San Vicente, Camantiles and Anonas. The project includes the construction of four bridges — Macalong Bridge, Mitura Bridge 1 and 2 and Camantiles Bridge. The new road will be connected to the Manila North Road (MNR), Urdaneta-Dagupan Road, Urdaneta-Manaoag Road and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEx).
