40 years of Philippine hits will be celebrated in California a month from now.

After a series of sold-out shows in Manila, legendary Filipina singer Odette Quesada

will bring her all-hits 40th anniversary celebration concert to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

This past week, she huddled up with members of the media to reflect on her storied career

which began as a teenager in the early 80s.

From her first hit in Give Me a Chance,

she's made the most out of every chance to wow Philippine audiences

and write music for some of the Philippines' biggest names,

something she says she never planned on.

When I wrote those songs, they were just to write a song, you know,

and then give them to the artist or, you know, I was lucky enough to also cut a few records myself.

There was no plan for longevity.

It's just as much as a surprise for me that I've lasted this long and that actually my songs have lasted this long.

So it's a testament to everybody who loves to listen to OPM.

The friend of mine, songwriter, will also bring some friends of hers to the stage.

Her longtime collaborator, Raymond Luchenco, the Philippines' queen of soul, Jaya, and crooner, Felson Palad.

I'm very, not just am I excited to be there with Odette and Jaya,

and Felson for the shows on May 11 and 12.

I'm also very proud.

And I'm also very grateful because as Odette mentioned a while ago, this isn't about us.

It's about celebrating music.

And even much more than that, it's about celebrating the audiences,

kayo po, who have been listening to us for the last four decades.

This is about you.

Quesada's two-stop show is a joint effort from the Filipino channel AIP Media

and Crossover Events, all who share a vision of celebrating Filipino talents globally.

TFC's goal in bringing events to our region is to really showcase world-class Filipino talents on the world stage.

We at TFC consider Ms. Odette Quesada as a generational talent,

really having produced multiple hits since the 80s.

It brings us back to what we really stood for as Crossover.

It's really being able to bring in Filipino artists,

to other countries, and at the same time, crossing over to different genres of music.

Quesada's all-hits concert takes place on back-to-back nights.

That's on May 11 at the Alex Theater in Glendale and on May 12 at Redwood City's Fox Theater.

For Quesada, she says these live performances have given her extra motivation to keep building on her 40-year legacy.

The passion is actually all in the live performances.

Like I said earlier, I'm really, really enjoying performing.

Performing in front of a small crowd, a big crowd, doesn't matter.

I mean, there's a real connection with the audience, mainly because I'm finally enjoying it myself.

And I think that radiates to people watching.
