So my project, my role in the project, or my team's role in this project is to make sure the robot can do sensing and locomotion for the planetary science.

What that means is, one, we want the robot to be able to move from places to places to get to the point where we want to take any measurements that the scientists want.

And two is, ideally we are doing a very novel thing to turn each leg of the robot.

Into a soil or regular sensor so that when the robot is running around, every step we want the robot to be gathering information about the environment.

Moving forward to missions that are going to occur on our moon,

we're going to have humans and robots that are going to be able to do sensing and locomotion.

And we're going to have humans and robots really for the first time on planetary missions working side by side.

And so what the LASI project is doing is really looking forward to that time and considering how should humans and robots collaborate for exploration of planets, particularly where should they go to collect data.
