Revelers in Canada, including Filipinos, gathered at the iconic Niagara Falls on April 8th to witness the historic solar eclipse.

Dressed in red raincoats and big yellow suns, the gathering was aimed at setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as the sun.

Filipino-Canadian Nick Son and his family were among the first in line to be a part of this historic event.

Aileen Hind and her Zumba group meanwhile added a lively touch to the gathering, dancing to the beat of Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart.

We decided to have eclipse dance and we rehearsed it. All of us were wearing yellows.

Well, we were told to wear yung nga comfortable shoes, non-slippery, kasi nga yung mist, mababas ka talaga.

309 people boarded a Niagara Falls cruise ship to attempt to break the record, previously set by 287 participants from China in 2020.

After the record-breaking attempt, thousands gathered to witness a rare total eclipse at the falls.

Alberto Lim and his family traveled for two hours and endured the cold weather to secure the perfect spot,

to observe the celestial phenomenon.

So when I started the video, it was already a little bit dark, but as the time comes closer to 318, it got darker and darker and darker.

And then finally at 318, for the next three minutes there, it was totally dark.

And when it was totally dark there, as you can see in the video, the only thing that you can see is at the other side,

on the U.S. side where there were lights on the casinos on that side there.

My wife and my daughter were to my right, and I couldn't see them.

Despite the cloudy weather that affected the view of the eclipse,

Ana Rosales and Bong Gomez were glad to have been part of the event,

which held special significance for them as Filipinos in Canada.
