John Bon Jovi, its frontman,

reflects on his relentless drive to make music

even in the face of early rejections.

When people who didn't believe in you

when you were starting out told you,

I don't think so, you said, I think so.

How did you nurture that mindset?

Sheer will, blind faith, naivete, youth.

All of those elements were very integral

because I was so young.

You know, I think any kid at that age

thinks they're going to be an athlete,

an astronaut, or a rock and roll star.

You know, there's an innocence to that.

Little incremental steps early on

made me believe that it could happen.

And so I was fortunate enough to have that success

and right runaway and get a record deal

when I was still 20 or 21 years old.

Through personal videos and never-before-seen photos,

it chronicles the band's phenomenal rise

in global superstardom,

as well as the setbacks and heartbreaks

that they encountered through the years.

In the documentary,

Jovi also shares a revealing look

into the devastating hardship that he went through

when a serious vocal injury made him doubt

if he'll ever sing again.

The series also shows the 62-year-old rock legend

facing his mortality and the realities of aging.
