xerox was the 1st brand sold in the philippines so Filipinos thought it was a noun. Filipinos will make a noun out of anything that is leading in a current period. Many Filipinos call a toothpaste as kolgeyt (colgate), a diaper as lampin (because LAMPIEN was then the leading brand of diaper in the Philippines). In visayan speaking region, a camera is called KODAK. No one has the idea then that it was a brand name. It just flows naturally among the society, and is difficult to stop.
