Hello everyone. I was born in the Philippines but moved to California when I was only 2 y/o. Both my parents are Filipino, but I never learned even though I can understand what people are talking about when I listen in on a conversation in Tagalog.

My sister and I are learning Tagalog together to surprise my parents for their birthday at the end of May. We are both Beginner Filipino language students and hope to turn this into a lifelong learning exercise.

I was also born in the Philippines and moved to the states when I was three. I never spoke Tagalog at home even though my parents spoke to each other all the time. For their 50th wedding anniversary a couple years ago, I surprised them by giving my speech entirely in Tagalog. This website was very useful in helping me to learn the language. Good luck!
