Question: Hello all, hope your doing well. I was wondering for speaking practice what are some of you doing? I have tried to use chat apps but the apps require a paid subscription to find people near your area. I already have enough subscriptions and bills, I don't need more. I have also tried Facebook groups but, people aren't very active on there. I asked questions about the language and people will like the post but not answer the question. I use Italki to learn the language but its the holidays now and $ is not as expendable. There are no meetup groups for learning Tagalog in my city either. I am currently trying to communicate with a couple of people online from a Facebook group but time zone differences make it difficult. Most of the time it's crickets between us. They like don't even reach out to me to say "hi" like I've done with them. With these inconsistent chats, building a friendship over language learning will not happen.

So, is there anyone out there having any luck with speaking practice here in the US? I live in Michigan and the Filipino community is small, really small. I used to live on the west coast (Las Vegas) where the Filipino population is bigger but the amount of individuals who spoke Filipino around my age was non-existent in my experience. So, while living there, I never really focused on learning Tagalog. It sucks that I decided to learn now because I'm starting to feel frustrated and discouraged about learning. My learning style is kinesthetic and visual so I need more output.

I am trying a bit of writing but, I haven't tried recording myself yet. I really would like someone to talk to on a regular basis in Tagalog. What are some of your tips or experiences with speaking practice in Tagalog? Thanks for reading my babble
