Question: Hi all,

both according to Duolingo and Google translate, while "I understand" and "I can understand" translate to "naiintindihan ko", the negative version, "I don't understand" and "I cannot understand" translate to "hindi ko maintindihan".

Why does the version with hindi use "maintindihan" rather than "naiintindihan"?

I'm a little rusty here, take it with a grain of salt but to me:

hindi ko naiintindihan = I'm not understanding/I don't understand.

hindi ko maintindihan = I'm not able to understand.

Open to correction.
