Question: I need help figuring out what verb to use with “Sino

I got these answers from the Tagalog learning discord (from Ang Taong Si Clyde) : "Hinihintay" here is a nominalized verb, so it's a noun and not a verb. It's "hinihintay" since it's referring to the thing that one is waiting for.In the first example, it's "kumuha" since the focus is on the actor, even though "kumuha" here is still a noun.In the second sentence, it's patient focused because we're referring to the patient, not the doer.The thing one is waiting for so to speak, not the person or thing that is doing the waiting.

Sino ang naghihintay? = Who is the one waiting?It just is. ; ) Language is not a math problem, sometimes you just to memorize which verbs match with which forms.

Boils down to focusOn the first sentence, we're talking about who did the action (kuha). The second sentence, you're talking about the "receipient"(hintay) of the actionThink of it like kumain vs kinainKumain ako ng isda nung tanghali. I ate fish during lunch. I am talking what I did for lunch.Kinain ko ang isda nung tanghali. I ate the fish during lunch. I'm talking about what was done to the fish(by me).
