I am studying the Filipino language because... my Mom was from the Philippines. She never taught me the language, but she did teach me a lot about the culture and her life. After she passed last year, I became closer to my family in the Philippines and I wanted to really connect more and honor the memory of my mother in many ways. Now during the pandemic, I've found myself with time and motivation to finally learn the language.
