@menay
hehehe ... no, this was not the reason, why I was replying to you ! Maybe you have noticed, that I try to find a "sophisticated approach" to solve Tagalogle ....
There are some 1.000 common 5 letter words. When guessing a word by random choice ... then usually there remain some 20 - 50 words that "comply" with that guess ... this yields a 2-5% chance to get the correct word by pure chance with the next guess ... so we need a better approach to find the Tagalogle word:
The best strategy seems to be, to have a second guess with a "complement" ... that's a word, that does not contain any of the letters contained in the first guess ... Amazingly this seems to yield the maximum available information ... even when this guess hits hardly any letter or even no letters at all ! No matter how many or how few letters are hit, usually only some 1 - 5 available words are left ... and so in most cases the game is over after 3 - 5 moves.
When chosing moves the following facts should be kept in mind: almost all 5 letter words (some 70 %) contain at least once the letter "A" ... the next vowel is "I" ... and "E" is the least common vowel. Some 20 % of the words contain "A" twice and some 16 % contain a combination of "A" and "I".
The most common consonants are T, L, S, K, G, B and P (in the order of frequency). Just 7 out of 20. And this explains why a complement with NO hits nevertherless provides for a lot of information. If you can rule out some of these consonants, this limits the number of available choices a lot.
This is what I had in mind, when I was talking about your lucky guess and the corresponding chances ... Maybe I did not make my intention clear enough. Sorry. I hope you get my point now ...
See you ...
