@PinoyTaj Still Ay and hay are not the same. Ay naku and hay naku are semantically similar and written in different nature. But that does not equate Ay and Hay means that same thing.

@nickchase327 my point is that “hay naku” and “ay naku” are the same and that you wrongly corrected the person that used “ay naku” .

You didn't even own copy of the UP dict, it was news to you that it is indeed monolingual?

Welcome to the site, you could join on the tagalog.com discord too!

@PinoyTaj No. I based that similarity with the Tagalog.com examples that you shared which is still questionable. I only demonstrated that there is an impact when expressed differently. I did not overtly said that he was wrong. I suggested that he wrote he added 'h' given that people don't necessarily express spoken language the same way as how they would express them in writing. It mattered differently on the context whether it was formal or informal writing. I only said that he should not be easily dismissive on talking about "diminutive" matters because they still mattered.

@AMBoy Actually not. When people say its monolingual actually it isn't. There are pitfalls about the UPDF, try searching for reviews on it by academic journals. Also, "How does it feel to be completely owned by these two foreign learners?" I didn't feel owned because this is not a competition. It's a discourse. When you frame it that way, it's more like you implying that they were ganging up on me with malicious intent of trying to "own" me. Pretty mature of you there AMBoy.

Then why did you continue to argue also those examples are from the “corpus” which pulls from “news articles “ “internet comments” “transcribed audio” and more . In other words, “ TDC did not make those examples”.

@PinoyTaj Well from a descriptive standpoint, I could validate that you're right. But, from a prescriptive standpoint, we may argue still on it.

@nickchase327 I’m prescriptive myself(everyone knows that from the discord) and you’re still wrong .

@PinoyTaj Answered this already. Also, you are just nitpicking my reply already. This is far from what I was trying to tell the other guy.
